Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Murphy; parents, Dee and Ada Alice Murphy; sisters, Joy Rice, Bonnie Day and Phyllis Brumbaugh.
He served his country in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and retired as the Assistant Fire Chief at the Fort McClellan Fire Department. He was an active member of Edgewood Congregational Methodist Church, distributed Bibles for Gideon’s International; volunteered for Meals on Wheels; worked with the United Methodist Bridge Ministry for the Homeless; and was certified by the Alabama Public Health as a Nursing Home Observer.
To all that knew him he will be remembered as a true servant of Christ, whom was always willing to assist anyone in need.
