Funeral service for Irene Mary McDonald Pruitt, 93 of Ohatchee, will be 11:00, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Gray Brown-Service with Dr. Johnny Pruitt and Rev. Darrin Post officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn Pruitt, Johnny Pruitt (Margaret), Jerry Pruitt (Marilyn) and Timothy Pruitt; daughter, Melanie Pruitt; sister-in-law, Betty McDonald; brother-in-law, Norman Roberts; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pruitt is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Gene Pruitt; daughters, Nedra Post and Shelia Thomason.
Mrs. Pruitt was a resident of Ohatchee and a graduate of Alexandria High School Class of 1941. During WWII she worked at the Anniston Army Depot but most of her life was spent as a housewife and pastors wife. She was a loving and caring mother raising seven children and caring for her last child who has special needs for 43 years. She was of the Baptist faith and in her early years she was active in Hebron Baptist Church. Mrs. Pruitt was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Woodland Place in Southside, Jacksonville Health and Rehab, Dr. Steven Sanders, and Dr. Stephen Blackstock for all the love and care to Irene.
