Elizabeth is survived by her sons Eric Dempsey (wife Nannelle), Lane Dempsey (wife Angie), Greg Dempsey (wife Cy); grandchildren Brian Dempsey, Allison Dempsey, Michael Dempsey (wife Kimberly) and Mary Dawson (husband Bradley); great grandchildren Whitney Fink, Dalton Fink, Patrick Fink, Sophia Dempsey, Giuliana Dempsey, Adilyn Dawson, and Mitchell Dawson.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Howard L. Dempsey, son Ronald Dale Dempsey, great grandson Gabriel Dempsey, sister Billie Smith and parents Henry and Grace Howell Smith and many lifelong friends that she loved as family.
A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Gray Brown Service Mortuary, 1329 Wilmer Ave, Anniston Alabama 36201, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 with Rev. Donnie Sills officiating.
Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Edgemont Cemetery, 3555 Noble St., Anniston, Alabama 36201.
Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of Anniston First Baptist Church at McClellan since 1938. She taught Primary School Children and VBS; she was a member of Servants of Love Sunday School Class; sang in the choir for many years and sang in a religious quartet for many years with her sister Billie Smith and Evelyn Funderburg and Ward Hess. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to her doting caregivers, Joann and Valerie, for their love and compassion. Also, thanks to all the clergy, church members and friends that visited her so often.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be made to First Baptist Church at McClellan Building Fund.
