Carrie Emma Phillips Pulvere

Mrs. Carrie Emma Phillips Pulvere, 96 of Alexandria was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Laura Bell Phillips as well as 12 siblings, Pearly Sue Shuffield (Grover), John Emmett Phillips (Mabel), Mary Lou Martin (James Francis), Olen Phillips (Alma), Ethel Love (Liston), Nannie Bell Craft (Thomas), Gladys Rachael Willett (Usrey), Lula Mae Boyd (Wesley), Millie Ruth White (Bob), Virginia Dare Winn (Howard), Ruby Jane Phillips, Wesley Lavon Phillips.

Mrs. Carrie was blessed with 22 surviving nieces and nephews who brought loving spouses and children into her family. The family has grown as a monument to John and Bell Phillips and is now too widespread to count.

Mrs. Carrie was married to Patrick Pulvere until his death in 1996. Surviving family incudes her only child, W. Alan Swafford (Diane) of North Augusta S.C.; one granddaughter, Brandi Ann Holloway (Trent); five great grandchildren that are all currently serving as foreign missionary; daughter by marriage Margaret Hatley (Andy) of Anniston; granddaughter by marriage, Jana Papa (Andre’) of TN; and great grandson by marriage, Brad P. Wilson of North Augusta, SC.

Mrs. Carrie was born and raised in Calhoun County and was a proud lifelong member of Hebron Baptist Church. She graduated from Alexandria High School. She practiced as a dental assistant for over 40 years with Dr. C.E. Elrod. Upon retirement she enjoyed visits from her family and especially the great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed the many phone calls and visits from her wonderful friends. Those who knew her felt her infectious sense of humor and her love. They will do so for many years to come.

The family wishes to acknowledge Legacy Village and their loving staff for their tender care and family support.

The funeral service was held Tuesday evening at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Markham from Hebron Baptist Church. Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery.
