A graveside service for Margaret will be held at 2:00 PM at Forestlawn Gardens, 730 Golden Springs Rd., Anniston, Alabama 36207.
Margaret was born on March 5,1934 in Oxford Alabama to Henry Marcus and Dorsie Wilma (White) Spivey. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, Jack Edward Cash. Margaret had noticed Jack in the church choir and said, “he was always looking at me.” After work one day she saw Jack at the bus stop and struck up a conversation. Despite that his parents went with them on their first date their love bloomed. Jack would come to the candy counter at Woolworths where she worked and asked for a nickel worth of candy for a penny just so he could talk to her. They married in July of 1952 and had a love story that spanned a lifetime. Margaret followed Jack to Auburn University where she took classes in secretarial science while he completed his engineering degree. For the next 20 years she followed Jack across the country and throughout the world as he pursued a career as an Army officer.
Their marriage was blessed with 4 children, and she devoted herself to providing a loving home. She experienced the heartbreak of losing a young child and the constant upheaval of frequent moves with the military with no extended family close by. Margaret and Jack raised their children in a Christ centered home and were an example of what love and marriage look like. One of the first things they would do on arriving at a new assignment was find a church. Margaret volunteered as a Children's Sunday school teacher and was active in the church. Seeing their mother doing Bible study and praying in the early morning hours was constant. She was a true prayer warrior and looked to the Lord for his leadership. She lifted her family and others in daily prayer. Her heart's desire was to see her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren come to know the Lord.
When Jack retired from the Army they settled in Plano Texas. They were members of Prairie Creek Church for over 45 years and continued to serve the Lord in volunteer roles in the church. Margaret was active in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Her house was filled with love and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her delight. She loved flowers, birds and butterflies and was an avid gardener. She continued to do home canning into her 80’s and shared it with family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jack, in 2016. Also, her son Michael Alan Cash, sister Nell Rayfield and brother Luther “Buddy” Spivey.
She leaves behind her sister Ruby (Spivey) Clay. Her sons Bryan and Dennis Cash and daughter Karen (Cash) Brannon. Grandchildren Kristen Nguyen, Amanda Cash, Matthew Montgomery, Emily Ramirez and Sally Shearin. Great grandchildren Harley, Ashley, Aaron, Emma, Avery, Kaplynn, Wrenley and Ember.
