Pamela Borland Forbes

Pamela Borland Forbes, a resident of the Annapolis area for more than four decades, died on March 3, 2022, after a brief illness. She was 79 years old. She is survived by her husband, Steven Bookshester; children Frederic Dulles (Catherine Jordan), Edward Dulles, and Juliet Dulles (Albert Reed); grandchildren Alexandra, Andrew, and Rebecca Dulles; brothers Nathaniel Forbes (Stacie Forbes) and David Forbes (Lisa De Los Reyes); in-laws Joyce Bookshester and George Bodenberg; nephews Ashton and Thomas Forbes, and niece Olivia Bookshester-Bodenberg.

Pamela grew up in Boston, where she attended The Winsor School and was a member of the Class of 1960. She thrived at Winsor and there made many life-long friends. She subsequently studied at Radcliffe, then moved to New York and graduated from Barnard in 1964. She earned her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 1976. It was there that she met Steven, the love of her life, to whom she was married in 1978.

Pamela was for a quarter-century an attorney practicing domestic relations law. She was a member of the DC and Maryland Bars, and a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She was empathetic with her clients and formidable in the courtroom, possessing an extraordinary command of both the law and the English language.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, needle crafts, quilting, painting, travel, contemplation, and the company of family and friends. She cared deeply about the rights of all.

She was a life-long Episcopalian and was a member of St. Anne’s Parish in Annapolis.

A memorial service for Pamela will take place Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Anne’s Church, Church Circle, Annapolis, to be followed by a reception at the Parish House.
