Marian Demko Vouglas, 95, passed away on Monday March 5, 2018 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was born on December 15, 1922 in Perth Amboy, NJ to the late Michael and Anna Demko. Marian and her high school sweet heart Tom married in 1943 at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, NJ. They relocated to Quantico, VA while Tom was serving our Country in the Marine Corp. In 1946 Marian and Tom moved to Edison, NJ where they lived for over 40 years. She is best known by her family as a loving caring wife, mother that was strong, energetic and organized. Known to her grandchildren as “Oma” she was most famous to them by her fine baking of poppy seed, cakes and Easter Bread. While raising five children, Marian was active at Our Lady of Peace School were she served as the PTA president and a cub scout and girl scout leader. In 1966 she was secretary to key executives at Hatco Group, a division of WR Grace. In 1976 Marian was recognized as a Certified Professional Secretary by the National Secretaries Association. In 1984 she received an Associates of Art Degree at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ. By Marian’s retirement in 1986 she had become Manager of Marketing Services. For the past 34 years she has resided in Annapolis Area and a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Marian also was a member of the Society of the Little Flower and a life member of the Annapolis Woman’s Club.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband Tom in 2004 and her daughter Marijo Kurlchek in 1986, grandson Justin Kurlychek in 2016. Survived by her children; Thomas Vouglas and his wife Kathy of Lopatcong Twp, NJ, Nancy Moores and her husband Scott of Reisterstown, James Vouglitois and his wife Diane of Lacey Twp, NJ and Kevin Vouglitois. Oma was especially proud of her grandchildren; Buffy Leach and her husband Craig, Josh Vouglas, Thomas Vouglas, Jr. and his wife Drew, William Fricke and his wife Danielle, Jessica Fricke, Molly Moores, Timothy Moores and his wife Abbey, Keith Moores, Dana J. Vouglitios, Kim Cidern and her husband Brian, Erin Bragg and her husband Tommy, Kai-lee Berke and her husband Rory, Zack Kinsella and Fionn Kinsella. Marian was so happy to know her great grandchildren; Tierney and Tano Rojas, Andrew, Chloe and Tyler Vouglas, Rowen, Maeleigh and Greyson Fricke, Oliva Rae Vouglas, Kara and Partick Cidern, Chloe, Kailee and Conner Bragg, Abraham and Anna-Lei Berke, Trynity and Madyn Kurlychek.
The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Thursday from 9 to 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Saint John Neumann Roman Catholic Church 620 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401. Inurnment will take place in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers memorials in Marians name to Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 109 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Md 21401 will be appreciated.
