(Frances) Lorraine Fischer Pascale Soash was born in Washington DC on May 8, 1921, to Maggie and Bud (Henry) Fischer, the older sister to Harland Eugene Fischer (deceased), died at home, at sunrise Assisted Living center, in Severna Park on December 11th, 2016. Lorraine was raised in Southeast DC, and graduated from St. Cecelia’s Academy in 1939, after which she went to work for the FBI in a clerical position. In 1950 she joined the US Navy and worked in the Organized Intelligence Group at the Navy Yard in Washington DC. In 1951 she met Dan Pascale, and after a whirlwind courtship, married in 1952. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1954, she and Dan moved to Fairfax Virginia, where she became a homemaker and a Mom. In 1957 she gave birth to a son, Donato Joseph, and in 1958, a daughter, Kateri Lorraine. The family moved back to Maryland and eventually settled in Cheverly, where Lorraine was very involved in the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts, and as a parent volunteer in her children’s school. She was also very involved in the Coast Guard Auxiliary which operated out of Rose Haven (now known as Herrington Harbor), near North Beach. In 1970 the family moved to Riva, just outside of Annapolis. Lorraine and Dan divorced in 1977, and Lorraine set out to rebuild her life, re-entering the workforce as the night telephone operator for the Annapolis City Police Department. She worked her way up to secretary to the Chief of Police. In 1981, Lorraine met and married Joe Soash, and retired from the Police Department. Joe passed away in 1986, and again, Lorraine set to rebuild her life, and returned to work for the City of Annapolis Election Board, retiring once again from the City of Annapolis some years later. Enjoying retirement, she was active in Catholic Daughters of America, and loved reading, crochet, hand crafts, and most especially, her great-grandchildren. Resilience, compassion and generosity were her trademarks. She was a woman of deep faith and great kindness-not to be mistaken for weakness. She is survived by her son, Don (Cookie) Pascale, of Arnold, two grand-children Cindy Jeffries of Crownsville, and Butch Vogel of Bracey, Virginia, and 5 great-grandchildren, and her daughter, Kateri (Gary) Coombe, of Annapolis, two grand-children, Erin Zimmerman of Centreville, and Dustin Coombe of Hersham, United Kingdom, and 6 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). Private inurnment will be held at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery on December 19th. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, John & Cathy Belcher Campus, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena 21122.
