With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and friend, Francis Jerome Winters, known affectionately as Jery, on December 31, 2023. Born on November 5, 1959, Jery's life was a remarkable tapestry woven with threads of love, music, and joy.
Jery was a proud alumnus of St. Mary's Catholic School in Annapolis, where he attended elementary, middle, and high school. His passion for music led him to serve as a musician in the U.S. Navy and continued to flourish, culminating in an Associate degree as an Electronics Technician (RETS) and Bachelors degrees in Music Performance and Recording Engineering from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University.
Jery's 36-year marriage to his beloved wife, Luisa, was a testament to his commitment, love, and joy in family life. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, William and Alfonso, and welcomed Tylar and Courtney into their family. Jery was not only a loving husband and father but also the life of our family gatherings. He was funny, jolly, and always had a joke to share. His kind and gentle nature, coupled with his loving and exemplary role as a husband and father, made him a beacon of light in our lives.
Professionally, Jery dedicated himself as a classroom technician at the University of Maryland, where he performed his role with expertise and enthusiasm until his retirement. His warm personality and exceptional skills left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.
Jery's legacy is one of love, music, service, and laughter. His departure leaves an unfillable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed, but his memory, filled with moments of laughter and love, will continue to inspire and comfort us.
There will be no viewing or memorial service at this time. Plans for a funeral will be made later in 2024.
Rest in peace, Jery. Your melody and laughter will forever resonate in our hearts.
