She was born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1947 to Betty A. and John K. Clark, Sr. She graduated from Annapolis High School in 1964 and then on to University of Maryland to major in music.
Carol was a member of Saint Anne’s Church and later sang in the choir for Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church. She began a career in the Anne Arundel County Courthouse in Annapolis, searching property titles for real estate settlements.
She married Ken Welk of Columbia, Maryland. He was in charge of the Maryland Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. Carol joined him and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel herself. She moved to the Howard County Courthouse and continued until retirement.
Carol also tutored children in reading, taught piano and assisted in research and editing of some books.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ken Welk and both parents John K. Clark, Sr. and Betty A. Kremer. Carol is survived by her brother John K. Clark, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 12:30 to 1 pm at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 pm. A reception will follow in the funeral home catering room from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
