Professor Emeritus Bruce Johnson passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018.
He was a professor at the United States Naval Academy for 35 years, in the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Department. In addition to teaching and research, he co-authored several textbooks including Introduction to Naval Architecture, Engineering Economic Analysis, and Introduction to Naval Engineering. He recently received the William H. Webb Medal from the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, for outstanding contributions to education in Naval Architecture, Marine, or Ocean Engineering.
Bruce was an avid sailor and spent many happy hours racing sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay. In addition, he loved the arts including classical music, opera and ballet performances.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law.
