JoAnn Clare Fletcher (nee Beusterien), age 86, of Ann Arbor, Michigan left this life on Tuesday July 2, 2019 to be with her beloved husband George, who preceded her in death on April 22, 2019. JoAnn was born on January 2, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to Harry and Phyllis (Stallo) Beusterien. She lived most of her young life in Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Mackenzie High School, graduating in 1951. After high school she worked with her father at the New York Central Railroad in Detroit. She was introduced to George, the love of her life, through mutual friends and they married on October 19,1957. They built a house and a life together in Ann Arbor, where they raised their three children. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, volunteering in the school and church in various capacities through the years and working in the Religious Education Office until retirement in 1992. She and George had many traveling adventures together including trips to Ireland, Europe, Hawaii and Myrtle Beach but their favorite destination was their cabin in the Upper Peninsula where they spent every summer together. JoAnn was an avid card player, and could play Pinochle with family late into the night, especially if pennies were at stake. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their countless sporting events and concerts. She always had a smile and a kind word; even as her memory faded she remained a bright spot in the lives of people who knew her. The family is truly grateful for the compassionate care she received at Glacier Hills and University Living as well as from the staff at Great Lakes Hospice.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband George Washington Fletcher, Jr., parents Harry and Phyllis, 2 brothers Harry and Robert Beusterien, and sister Doris Beusterien. She is survived by her children Geralyn (John) Doskoch of Charlevoix, Karen (Marty) Lutz of Ann Arbor, Michael (Teresa) Fletcher of Chicago; and her beloved grandchildren Jacob and Julia Doskoch, Kelsey, Jamie and Owen Lutz; and Noah and Isaac Fletcher.
