A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West 1st, Street, Ankeny, Iowa, 50023. There will be a Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m. to start the visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Ankeny Funeral Home. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service at the funeral home. After the luncheon, there will be a burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Cumming, IA at 2:30 p.m.
Thelma was born on February 15, 1949, to William and Viola (Ackerson) Monaghan in Des Moines, IA. She graduated from Ankeny High School in 1967. She attended and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing with her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
After graduating, she worked for Mercy Hospital, Des Moines General, Lutheran Hospital, and for Dr. Dan Duberstein at his private practice.
Thelma was united in marriage to Bill Roush in 1973 in Ankeny, Iowa. Together, they had three children; Billy, Dave, and Bob. Bill passed away on December 28, 2004. Thelma was then united in marriage to Frank Leroy Morris on June 16, 2013 in Lancaster, Wisconsin.
She often enjoyed singing, playing music, and was an accomplished pianist. Thelma cherished traveling, knitting, sewing and cooking. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by her husband, Frank LeRoy Morris; sons, Dave (Steph) Roush and Bob Roush; step-children, Jeremy (Amanda) Morris and Stacie (Mike) Herrick; grandchildren, Liam Roush, Olivia Morris, Jaime Roush, Landon Roush; step-grandchildren, Julie and Evan Morris, and siblings, William (Margie) Monaghan and James (Linda) Monaghan.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Roush; son, William “Billy” Roush; siblings, Betty Monaghan, Thomas Monaghan, John Monaghan, and Peggy Herrington.
