It was Denny’s wish for no funeral service or visitation. There will be a Private Military Inurnment of his cremated remains at a later date.
Denny was born in Springfield, Illinois on June 18, 1954 to Charlie and Joan (Price) Williamson. He graduated from Lincoln High in Des Moines, Iowa one year early in 1971. Denny proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He began his career at Methodist Hospital in 1976 and retired from UnityPoint Health as the electrical engineer of the three hospitals, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Methodist West Hospital in 2017 after 42 years of service. Denny and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed snow skiing in Colorado every year for two decades, and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles to a number of motorcycle rallies. He proudly rode his beloved 1990 FXR Super Glide to two rallies in Sturgis, South Dakota. They traveled to many different states in the USA and to Ireland, London and Paris, and rode their bicycles on the Des Moines bike trails and the Root River trails by Rushford, Minnesota. Denny was a life member of Abate of Iowa, Harley Owner Group (HOG), The American Legion and the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Denny is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy (Day) Williamson; two grandchildren, Ashtyn and Leya Williamson; two brothers, Michael Williamson and Marty (Lisa) Williamson; a nephew, Nathan (Kathleen) Williamson; sisters-in-law, Fran (Steve) Ault and Harriet (Donnie) Waters; step mother, Janet Williamson; numerous nieces and nephews from Kathy’s side of the family, and his cat, Wilma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Williamson and Joan Rush; sons, Mike and Bob Williamson; his in-laws, Bill and Dee Day; sister-in-law, Martha (Day) Sedwick, and brother-in-law, Mike Day.
