Mary Emagene Ingersoll, age 82, of Ames, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023. She was born on September 25, 1940 in rural Kelley, Iowa to Everett and Edna (Rains) White. Mary graduated from Huxley High School in 1958. Though she took on several jobs to support her family, she worked for over 20 years at Iowa State University, initially in continuing education and then for the majority of her career at ISU Printing and Publication.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 11:00 am at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West 1St Street, Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sheldahl Cemetery following the service.
The most important thing in her life was her family and she loved tending to them and sharing in their lives in any way that she could. Second only to her family was the love and care she had for her dogs. She loved the traditions of the holidays, cooking the meals and having her family with her. Over the years, she deeply enjoyed playing cards with the Barrett’s, having coffee with Virginia, camping at Spring Lake with Verl and Gloria, gardening, and making homemade ice cream. After they moved to Ames, she enjoyed antiquing, attending her grandchildren’s activities, feeding the birds, crafting, watching Law and Order and cheering on her ISU sports teams. She also especially enjoyed spending time with their cherished neighbors over the years (Lex and Suzanne, Phil and Kate, and Jim and Cassie).
Mary is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jody) Ingersoll of Urbandale; her son, Joe (Amy) Ingersoll of Elkhart; grandchildren, Brianna (Harrison) Dunn, Braeden Ingersoll, Mahliah Ingersoll; former daughter-in-law, Tara Ingersoll; and brother-in-law Bobby (Shirley) Ingersoll and sister-in-law Ellen Jennings. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Ingersoll; parents; two sons, John and Jim Ingersoll; and siblings Verl, Raymond, Bobby, Dale, Larry, and Wayne.
In memory of Mary, memorials may be directed to the Ames Animal Shelter.
