Marion Joseph Ugolini passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Bickford of Urbandale, Iowa. He was husband of 52 years to June (Grady) Ugolini and loving father of three adult children. His eldest, Greg, went to be with his Lord in 2013.
Born to Battista (Pete) and Genoveffa (Jennie) Ugolini from Italy, Marion was a part of a large Italian family of 9 children. His father was a coal miner, and his mother spent her time tending to the family. He attended school in Madrid, Iowa. After graduating from Madrid High School, Marion joined the Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Following his service, he worked for and retired after 40 years at John Deere in Ankeny. Marion was a tireless hard working man. He and his family managed rental properties in the Des Moines area, and he never missed out on a moment of any work opportunity or a chance to help his kids and family. He enjoyed any spare time outside, especially yardwork, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Marion is survived by his sister, Wilma Smith; son Steve (Kelly) Ugolini; daughter, Angie Ugolini; three grandchildren, Brooke (Tom) Bos, Toni Ugolini (Mikie Schiltz), Marcus Ugolini; and three Great-Grandchildren; Desi, Eva, and Ruby Bos. Marion was preceded in death by his parents; his eldest son, Greg; his wife, June; his loving partner later in life, Jean Stewart-Payton; and his siblings Ugo, Anna, Johnny, Joe, Olga, Angie, and Mary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny, IA. Visitation to precede the service at 10:30 a.m. at OLIH. Burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
