Growing up, Larry lived and worked on the family farm up until his graduation in 1957. After high school, he married his high school sweetheart Barbara Crees in 1960, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Shortly after, he went into the Army and served our country for 3 years. After the military, Larry moved to Ankeny and began working at John Deere with his brother Leland, where he worked until his retirement.
Larry was best described as witty, and quick to respond with what his friends and family would call “Larry-isms.” He enjoyed spending time with his family on the farm, and being in nature hunting, fishing, and going on camping trips. He also enjoyed bowling, going out to eat with his wife and friends, and loved going to the casino with Barb until the wee hours of the night. Larry and Barb lived together in their home for many years, and had the best time with their neighbors, and jokingly heckling the neighborhood kids. Larry will be greatly missed by everyone who knows and loves him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyle Howard Crees and Gladys Elizabeth Crees (Warden); his brother, Leland Richard Crees; his nephew, Curtis Owen Crees; and his beloved dog, Duncan.
Larry was survived by his wife, Barbara Ruth Crees (Snethen); his sons, Rick Crees and Scott Crees; his daughter, Conni Crees; his two granddaughters, Kennedy Crees and Skylar Crees.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at ankenyfuneralhome.com for the Crees Family.
