Greg was born on September 22, 1951, to Phillip Arthur and Marcelline Agatha (Peltier) Anderson in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He graduated from Pipestone High School in 1969. He then graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a Bachelors in Theater Arts. He continued his education at the University of Iowa graduating with his Masters in Fine Arts in Theater Arts.
Greg’s passion for theater led him to a career as a Technical Director at the Des Moines Civic Center for many years. He then worked as a union stagehand/rigger as a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local #67 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Greg was united in marriage to Kathryn Kay DeVos on June 4, 1977 in Marshall, Minnesota. Together, they had two children; Ryan and Marcelline.
Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, carpentry, food, relaxing at "the cabin", and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. People will remember Greg's wit, humor, myriad of stories, ability to master just about any skill or task, and his willingness to teach others. He was an incredible man, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor. He touched many lives and left a positive impact on this world. We are lucky to have had him in ours.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Slater, IA), son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Valerie (Johnston, IA); daughter and son-in-law, Marcelline and Drew (Anoka, MN); grandchildren, Miles, Kaiden, and Lydia; sisters, Mary (St. Paul, MN), Susan (Sioux Falls, SD), and Phyllis (Pipestone, MN) as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Anderson; mother, Marcelline Anderson (Peltier), and father, Phillip Anderson, and beloved dog, Penny.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Minnesota State University Theatre program: SMSU Foundation, c/o Friends of the Theatre, 1501 State St, Marshall, MN 56258.
