Gerald Ray Holland

Gerald Holland, 87, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 28, 2019. Visitation will be at All Saints Parish on Thursday, October 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at All Saints Parish, Friday, November 1, 2019 at 11:00 am, with a luncheon following burial at Pine Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s name may be given to a charity of your choosing.

Gerald was born on May 23, 1932 to Elmer and Margaret (Cutler) Holland in Des Moines, Iowa. Gerald was united in marriage to Rosemary on December 1, 1956, in Des Moines. Gerald spent over 65 years as a member of Union Local 33 Plumbers and Steamfitters. He was a paratrooper in the army. He loved teasing his wife, kids, and grandkids. Grandpa Jerry loved it best when everyone in the family was laughing. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes, hunting, and fishing.

Gerald is survived by his children: Michael (Sandi) Holland, Gregory (Tracy) Holland, Mary (Jerry) Nybakken and Anne (Jeff) Townsend; his grandchildren, Cutler (Audrey), Trevor (Macy), Breanna, Delaney, Walker Lee (Nicole), Jacob (Destinee), Andrew (Allyssa), Audrey (Andrew), Blane and Sydney Rose; great-grandchildren, Adalynne, Berkley, Kodiak, Aurora, Dakota, Oaklynn and Memphis; brothers, Jack, Richard, and James Holland; sister, Joanne Douglas.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosemary and his grandson, Bryce John Holland and brother, Edward Holland.
