Rosemary A. (Roeder), (Scott), Stemler, age 73, passed away from cancer at Israel Family Hospice House July 24th, 2024. A celebration of life will be held on August 24, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Born in Norton, Kansas to Forrest and Donna (Chase) Roeder, she was raised with 2 older brothers, Robert and Tim. After high school, she attended Kansas State University for 2 years. She was married to Stephen. Scott in 1971 and they had 3 children- Amanda, Evan and Robert. The family has lived in Texas, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania and California, before settling in Ames, Iowa in 1985. She and Stephen later divorced.
She attended undergrad and graduate school at Iowa State before leaving to take a job as a full-time driver at CyRide She worked 21 years as a driver at CyRide, including training and Dial-A-Ride. She retired in 2015.
She met Linda Stemler on a blind date in 1994, and they have been together since then. They were married in 2011, and Rosemary took Linda’s last name They had their honeymoon in Hawaii, and after her retirement, they traveled to Ireland She grew up with and loved horses. She got her first pony when she was 3 and her first quarter horse when she was 10. She parted with her last horse in 1984. She continued to love wearing Western boots with “bling” around the ankles.
She is survived by her wife, Linda Stemler, daughter Amanda Scott, son Evan Scott, grandchildren Zachary Scott-Gray and Maliya Scott-Gray, brother Tim (Dotty) Roeder, nephew Doug (Tracy) Roeder, and sister-in-law Susan Willson. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Roeder, son Robert Scott, and nephew Brian Roeder
