Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames, Iowa with burial to follow at Fjeldberg Cemetery south of Huxley, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
Robert Clarence Young was born February 11, 1933 to Clarence and Florence (Flowers) Young in Nevada, Iowa where he grew up and received his education. Robert worked multiple jobs during his career; they included a poultry factory, tile company, in home health care and housekeeping at Riverside North, and as a sanitation specialist.
Robert enjoyed playing Bingo, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, watching Walker Texas Ranger, and loved his dogs; Bandit, Lilly, and Tippy. He remained active up until recently, even taking a trip this past New Years to Las Vegas. Robert also treasured holidays, and especially appreciated handing out candy and counting children at Halloween.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Bobby; parents; and siblings, John, Fred, Libby, Dorothy, and Leona. Survivors include his daughter, Jolene (Ed) Young-Juncker; grandchildren, LaDawn Young and Michael Young; brother, Bill (Joyce) Young; sisters, Sharon Hunter, Ilo Hetrick, and Mary Young; and multiple nieces and nephews.
