Bill was born on August 9, 1947, to Willie O. Greaser, Father and Josephine McVey, Mother in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He graduated Tucumcari High School in 1965. Bill attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in December of 1969. He served 6 years in the New Mexico National Guard and the Federal Reserves in Amarillo, Texas from 1970-76.
Bill met Melynie Melcher at Western State College and they married on February 21, 1970 in Lubbock, Texas. After moving to Amarillo, Bill began his career at Southwestern Public Service in 1971 where he served as safety department manager for many years. After dedicating 49 years of his life to the company, Bill retired from Xcel in 2020.
Bill had a tremendous love of the outdoors, especially the mountains, and at a young age you could find him fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, and even racing snowmobiles. Bill poured his heart and soul into his children and when he was not taking his family to Colorado to ski or fish year after year, you could find him coaching youth football, baseball and basketball. Bill was passionate about coaching and impacting young children through sports. Bill was at peace on the water and was later known to be either bass fishing at Ute Lake in Logan, New Mexico or trout fishing in the Southern Colorado Rockies.
Bill is survived by his wife Melynie of 52 years, his daughter, Amanda Ellison (Brad), of Lubbock, Texas, and his son, Jaret Greaser (Adrienne) of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren include Ashtyn Ellison, Lauryn Ellison, Anastyn Greaser, Jackson Greaser, and J. Ford Greaser; brother, Dwayne Greaser; and sisters Verna Curry, (Dale) Carla Dedera (Joe) Reba Bowman, Linda Bianchi (Mike) and Pam Beets (Jimmy) and sister-in law, Marolyn McVey. Bill is also survived by a very special nephew, Kevin Wickham.
Bill was proceeded in death by his father, Willie O. Greaser (Marie) and his mother, Josephine (V. L) McVey, his sister Nancy Wickham and his brother Jim McVey.
Bill and Melynie were founding family members of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Amarillo.

A visitation for William will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 5400 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109. A graveside service will occur Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:15 AM at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes St., Amarillo, Texas 79103.
Serving as pallbearers are Brad Ellison, Dwayne Greaser, Kevin Wickham, Don Talley, Jaret Greaser, Jackson Greaser, Ford Greaser and David Talley.
