He was born January 13, 1929, in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Rufus Walter and Laura Lillian Felder.
Ray grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Norma Lee Noland September 23, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He entered into the United States Army to serve our country in October 1950. He served overseas in the occupation of Germany after World War II in Company A of the 110th Infantry. After his honorable discharge from the Army, they lived in Oklahoma City until they moved to Amarillo in July 1955 when Ray accepted a job at the Amarillo Helium Plant. They enjoyed almost 72 years of marriage. He retired from his job at the Helium Plant in 1980. Ray and Norma were active members of Arden Road Baptist Church until they were no longer able to attend church regularly. He loved JESUS and served as a trustee at Faith Baptist Church and deacon at Arden Road Baptist Church and Norma taught Sunday School as well. Ray was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and after retirement playing golf. Annual fishing trips to Eufala Lake in Oklahoma with his dad, brothers their families, and annual vacations to Colorado with Norma’s sister Loretta and brother in-law Joe were important times spent with family. Many vacations were spent fishing at Williams Creek Reservoir, Bear Lake, and Monument Lake Colorado with Loretta and Joe. After their family was raised and both were retired, a new annual vacation began every October at Beaver Lake near Rogers, Arkansas. Norma’s brother Harmon Noland and sister in-law Jo, brother Wally Noland and sister in-law Wanda and sister Loretta and brother in-law Joe would meet at the lake and spend at least a week together fishing, sometimes golfing and shopping at the annual craft show.
They spent many more years traveling with Loretta and Joe to go fishing, drive to Alaska and visited many other places across the United States.
Ray is survived by his, Sons; Floyd R. Felder and wife Amanda, Berry D. Felder and wife Donna, and Duane Felder and wife Tonya, all of Amarillo. Daughter; Freda M. White of Odessa, 22 Grandchildren, 43 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren and one due in June.
He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; his parents Rufus Walter and Laura Lillian Felder; Sons; Perry Gene Felder and Michael D. Felder, Sisters; Marie Felder Wishon, Louise Felder Diez, Margaret Felder Morehead, Eileen Felder Covey, Faye Felder Bourassa, May Felder Weldon, Ruth Felder Trani, Brothers; John “JP” Felder, Arlanda Felder, Walter Felder and Earl “Cotton” Felder. Ray will be missed by both family and friends.
