Troy Lee Bell, 62, of Amarillo, passed away June 28, 2022. Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday July 2, 2022 at Southwest Church of Christ, 4515 Cornell, with Brian Mashburn officiating. The family will receive friends Friday July 1, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell.
Troy Lee Bell was born on May 14, 1960 in Amarillo to Samuel and Rosalie Bell. He was the fourth of five children for the couple. He was a proud Palo Duro Don and loved playing football for Coach McElduff. Troy married Tammy Lowry on September 7, 1979 and they had three boys together, Toby, Tyler, and Taylor.
Troy’s open and friendly personality gained him many friends over the years from all walks of life. He was a true Renaissance man with varied experiences from working in the oil field, feedlots, packing houses and wheat harvest. He gained a vast knowledge of the lawn and garden business from working for his parents at Gouldy Bros. and Rose’s Feed Store. Troy then spent several years clearing train derailments for Hulchers before switching careers to become a truck driver, ending his career with FedEx.
Troy loved to watch the races at the dirt track, and going four wheeling at the river. He enjoyed family reunions, where he served as president for several years, and large family gatherings. He never missed a birthday party and loved hosting family and friends at 4th of July celebrations at his home. His milk can corn on the cob was always a family favorite.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Sam, his son, Toby, and infant daughter, Sarah.
He will be sorely missed by his sons, Tyler and wife Amanda, and Taylor and wife Amber, all of Amarillo; his brothers, Gene and wife Dawn, and Jack and wife Kari, all of Amarillo; his sisters, Belinda Sullivan of Amarillo, and Kathy Wagner and husband Kevin and his mother, Rosalie Littlejohn, all of Henrietta; his beloved grandchildren – Journey, Cotton, Reagan, Baylee, Jenni, Autumn, Memphis and Rowdy; his aunts, Carolyn Kendall and husband Don of Mangum, Oklahoma and Linda Shortt and husband Monroe of Wichita, Kansas, Pam Young and husband Lloyd of Oklahoma City and June Littlejohn of Amarillo ; his uncles, Perry Littlejohn and wife Johnnie of Amarillo, and Gary Bell and wife Carol of Dill City, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as cousins on both the Bell and Littlejohn side.
