Peggy Darlene Covalt Erwin passed on Sunday, November 7th, 2021. She was born to Jennings Bryan and Alta Covalt on June 18th, 1934, in Woodward,Oklahoma. She spent her early years in Woodward graduating from Woodward High School in 1952.
While in Woodward Peggy met Richard Erwin, who was also a native of Woodward. They were married in Clovis, New Mexico on July 31st, 1952. After marrying the newlyweds moved to Kansas where Richard was serving in the military. Peggy and Richard lived in several locations in the early years of their marriage while he was enlisted and while he attended college in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
In 1963 they moved to Dumas, Texas where they remained. In Dumas, Peggy was busy raising her daughters, working at the family business (Erwin’s Pharmacy) and participating in many community groups. Including the First Presbyterian Church, the Pierian Study Club and her daughter’s activities. She enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband. They visited all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.
Predeceasing Peggy were her parents, J.B. and Alta Covalt, her younger brothers Bill Don Covalt and Vandel Joe Covalt. Her husband Richard Gene Erwin also passed before her.
Peggy is survived by three daughters, Jackie Jackson (Richard), Kathy Sheldon (Terry) and Sheryl Frische (Myles), six grandchildren, Dan Jackson (Ashley), Staci Campbell (Alan), Jessica Needham (Rory), Alicia Wormsbaker (Tyson), Kristen Brazil (John) , Allison Merker (Jordan) and 12 great grandchildren.
Services and interment for Peggy will be at Memorial Park Cemetery 6969 E. Interstate 40 Access Rd on Friday, November 12th at 10A.M.
