Olen G. Ray

Olen G. Ray, 83 of Amarillo passed away October 23, 2013. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Kingswood Methodist Church with Dr. Brad Reeves officiating. Private family interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Olen was born June 2, 1930 in Stephenville to Franklin and Pearl Ray. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Olen worked for the Bureau of Mines as a Gas Field Superintendent for 32 years. He was a member of Kingswood Methodist Church for many years. Olen was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Ray in 2006 and also by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Jim Ray and wife Kathy of Amarillo and Randall Ray and wife Kristi of Willis; daughter, Ronda Winters and husband Robert of Amarillo; brother, Anson Ray of Amarillo; sisters, Marjorie Johnson and husband Carl of Garland and Bess Wright of Stephenville; grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Christen, Lindsey and husband Luke, Amy, Brandon and wife Jessie, Nathan, Kevin and Renee and husband Jedidiah; great-grandson, Hayden Ray Hunnicutt; he is also survived by a special friend, Barbara Lewis of Amarillo. The family suggest memorials be sent to Kingswood Methodist Church, 4801 S. Austin.
