Monty Lee McElroy passed away on July 21, 2023 in Amarillo. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Crossroads Country Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. Monty was born on July 31, 1949 in Memphis, Texas, he was the son of Jack and Betty McElroy. After graduating from high school Monty served three years in the US Army. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the Army he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was a very talented artist. Family came first so he put his passion on hold to provide for his family. Once retired he loved making cards for family, friends and the church. Monty lived a Christ driven life. He enjoyed studying the word and was an example of his faith.
Monty worked in the grocery business in several positions and departments. What he enjoyed most was helping customers find what they needed for that special recipe or gathering. Monty had an amazing work ethic; he even walked to work in a blizzard to make sure he would be there for customers. He had been taught by his dad “No matter what job you do, you should always do it to the best of your ability.”
Monty is survived by his wife Cecile, a son Jeremy McElroy and wife Maria, two daughters Melanie Cram and husband Tim and Danielle Miller. Grandchildren: Alex McElroy, Nick McElroy, Nick Cram, Adrienne Bostic and husband Nick, Braden Miller and Carter Miller. He was Pop Pop to one great grandson Turner Bostic. He is also survived by a brother Randy McElroy and a sister Jacklyn Ellis and husband James, as well as, many loving nieces and nephews.
