Born on 5/4/43, Rita lived a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and selflessness. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an extraordinary grandmother. Her unwavering dedication to her family and husband was evident in every aspect of her life which included a 60 year anniversary with her loving husband Kenneth Blackie Thompson.
Rita had a heart as vast as the ocean, always ready to embrace and comfort those in need. Her warm smile and gentle touch had the power to heal even the deepest wounds. She possessed an innate ability to make everyone around her feel cherished and valued, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Her kitchen was a sanctuary of love and nourishment, where she would whip up mouthwatering dishes that brought the family together. The aroma of her signature recipes will forever linger in our memories, reminding us of the joyous moments we shared around the dining table.
Rita had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a passion for storytelling, shopping, gambling and table games. Her stories transported us to different worlds, teaching us valuable lessons about life, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment. Her wisdom was a guiding light, illuminating our paths during times of darkness. She is survived by her loving husband; Kenneth "Blackie" Thompson, one son; Kenneth Ray Thompson Jr., daughters; Mary Osborn, Siane Mudgett,and Rhonda Jordan, 9 Grandchildren, and 17 Great- Grandchildren. Maudie is preceded in death by her parents, 15 siblings, one daughter; Gayla Thompson, son in-law; Curtis Jordan and one great- grandchild; Payton Jordan.
