She was born December 27, 1931 in Aspermont, Texas to Burris and Virgie Dennis. Jean is the name she went by, her mom decided that at an early age. Jean had many jobs during her life. After a near fatal illness of her husband, Don , the family had to move to Amarillo and she pursued a career in Cosmetology. She quit the public beauty business after a couple of years to concentrate on her children but still did hair in her home until her late 60’s. In the late 1960’s she founded the first Female owned Commercial Trucking Company in the state of Texas. She owned 2 trucks and drove independently for many years for various companies. Her trucking career took a pause when the family moved to Kansas for a job opportunity for her husband. They only stayed a few years and moved back to Amarillo. At that time Jean started keeping children in her home. She later became a Nanny for a family here in town. She lived a full life and was ready to be with the Lord at the age of 92.
She is survived be her husband; Jim B. Campbell of Amarillo, sons; D. Glen Kennedy of Richardson, Texas, Melvin Kennedy and wife Linda of Amarillo, daughters; Linda Sumner of Amarillo, Dona Cherry and husband Bill of Amarillo, M. Rose Carlton and husband Brian of Amarillo, 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, sister; Rose Ann Buck of Del City, Oklahoma. Jean is preceded in death by her 1st husband; Donald R, Kennedy passing 10-18-1988, brother; Pete B. Dennis passing 9-1-2022, grandson; Joe B. Priz passing 11-5-2023, and her parents; Virgie R. Dennis passing 8-8-2005 and Burris Dennis.
She will be missed by bother her family and friends.
