Lana Marie Green of Amarillo passed on May 18, 2023 in her home at the age of 75. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 10 AM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell St. Lana was born July 8, 1947 to Earl and Joyce Atkinson in Marshall, Indiana. On October 26, 1968, she married the love of her life, Donald Green. They were happily married for 51 ½ years. A proud 45-year cancer survivor, Lana ultimately succumbed to renal and liver failure.
The Postal Service was Lana’s employer for 16 years, beginning in 1980. She served as the President of the Amarillo Local of The American Postal Workers Union for two terms, contemporaneously serving as a representative on the Amarillo Central Labor Council. During her time with the Postal Service, she made many lifelong friends.
Lana was a civic-minded woman, participating in the Giddings Texas Lions Club for many years and served as President. After moving back to Amarillo, she continued to participate in the local chapter. She also supported her husband Don’s political activism.
A creative and artistic person, Lana enjoyed creating many types of crafts and collecting various works of art and decor. Lana enjoyed singing karaoke and sharing her beautiful voice with others. She was also an avid bowler, participating in tournaments across the United States. Ocean cruising was a favorite pastime as well, having gone on many voyages. In lieu of flowers, Lana asks that donations be given to her charities of choice: The Texas Lions Camp, American Cancer Society, and The National Kidney Foundation.
She is survived by her daughter Denise, son-in-law Don Cross, grandson Ben and granddaughter Cassidy and her husband Nathan, her siblings Sherry, Steve, Sue, Jeff, Stuart, BJ, Gary and Darla as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, brother Ron, and four nephews.
