Kenneth was born on November 26, 1945, to Billy Joe Mooney and Dora Lee Mooney in Canadian, Texas. He was raised in Canadian and moved to Amarillo while he was in middle school due to his Fathers job working for the highway department. Kenneth attended Palo Duro High School but graduated from Tascosa High School.
After high school, Kenneth started working for Delaney Auto and Truck Parts in Amarillo, where his strong love for autobody and mechanics first began. He quickly developed and acquired very impressive and unique skills to become relentlessly invested in his ability to tinker around and fix heavy machinery, such as forklifts, scissor lifts and skytrak lifts. Kenneth was also known for being very outwardly blunt. Although his remarks could sometimes be unsolicited or unwarranted, he made them with the most caring intent, especially with his close family and friends. Kenneth also had a special interest in storm chasing. He was one of the original storm chasing volunteers for Channel 4 News in Amarillo.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Mooney.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris Mooney, of Amarillo; his daughter, Kimberly Sue Mooney, of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Alli, Emily and Whitney and his nephews, Tim Mooney and Dane Mooney.
