Jose Manuel Trevino, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2024. Born on April 10, 1953, in Hale Center, Texas, to Onofre and Sara (De La Paz) Trevino. He grew up surrounded by his five brothers and five sisters, and their close-knit family played an important role in shaping the man he became.
Jose's life took him to Amarillo, where he worked for Swift in Cactus, Texas, providing for his family and establishing lifelong connections with friends and coworkers. He was a man who appreciated the simple joys of life—whether cruising around town or engaging in lively conversations with anyone who would listen. His laughter, kindness, and resilience made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Jose is survived by his children: Lisandro Castillo, Joe Angel Trevino, Julie Trevino, and Stephanie Hernandez. He was also a proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren. His legacy is carried on by his brothers: Antonio Trevino, Onofre Trevino Jr., and Juan Trevino; and his sisters: Maria Perez, Mary Helen Flores, Oralia Rubalcaba, Josefa Valdovinos, and Mary Alice Cantu, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Onofre and Sara Trevino, and his two brothers, Benito Trevino Sr. and Onofre Miguel Trevino.
Throughout his life, Jose faced many challenges, but he never allowed adversity to diminish his spirit. With the unwavering support of his dear friend, Mary Jane, he weathered life's ups and downs with grace and humor. He will be remembered for his ability to find joy in every moment and for his steadfast love for his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and bid farewell to a man whose heart was as big as his character.
Jose's memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. He will be dearly missed.
