Glen Taylor

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. in South Lawn Assembly of God, 4300 S. Bowie St., with Jerad Middaugh officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St.

Glen Taylor was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Slaton. He moved to Amarillo in 1959. He married Janelle Vickers in 1966. In 1967, they opened and operated Glen’s Grocery and Market until 1994, and also Park-It Market. He was known to his patrons as “Mr. Glen.”

In 1998, after retiring from the market, he went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Neal Unit as a guard and retired in 2008.

Glen attended Southlawn Assembly of God. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his grandson. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Janelle Taylor; two sons, Tim Vickers and wife Lori of Amarillo and Kevin Taylor and wife Pat of Fort Worth; two siblings, Carlene Bownds and husband Donald of Slaton and K.K. Taylor and Brenda of Amarillo; and a grandson, Kody Vickers of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to Southlawn Assembly of God, 4300 S. Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79110.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
