David R. Roberson, 75 of Amarillo passed away April 27, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Ricky Sims of Joplin, Missouri officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. David was born May 6, 1937 in Amarillo to R.V. and Sarah Ann Roberson. He attended Amarillo High School and then David joined the United States Marine Corp. He spent four years serving his country. On June 6, 1959 he married Sybil A. Wekwert in Amarillo and they were married almost 45 years. She passed away in April of 2004. David worked as a flight mechanic at Bell Helicopter for 23 years, staying until they closed the plant. He then received his A & P license at Chrysler in West, Texas near Waco, working there for 8 years before retiring. David loved his dog, Pup and loved being outside, especially in the mountains and he loved to fish. He loved to be around people, never meeting a stranger. David and his co-workers from Bell Helicopter would meet weekly and drink coffee together. The family is very thankful for all the prayers. On David’s last day, we were truly blessed with the peace and comfort that he and the family felt knowing he is with our Lord and Savior. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be truly missed. David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sybil Roberson in 2004; and two sister, Dorothy Oneal and Thelma Grueter. David is survived by his sons, Tim Booth and wife Drew, Marion Booth and wife Tresia and Murray Booth and wife Susan all of Amarillo; daughter, Diane Eslick and husband David of Oronogo, Missouri; sister, Betty R. Franks of Amarillo; also by 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be sent to the Amarillo VA Hospital or to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
