David passed away at the age of 75 at Collinsworth Hospital in Wellington, TX. He was a resident of Wellington Care Center since 2020.
David is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Holli Richardson of Richmond, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Paula Richardson of Whitewright, TX; grandchildren, Nathaniel Richardson, Gabriel Richardson and Maverick Richardson.
David was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents W.E. “Curly” and Louise Richardson, sister Cathy and her daughter Holly.
David graduated from Amarillo High School in 1965. He then joined the US Navy in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam and worked as an aircraft mechanic until his honorable discharge in 1971. David then attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX. He graduated SFA with a bachelor’s degree in Forestry in 1978. David then went on to own and operate Amarillo Tree Care for many years, serving greater Amarillo area businesses and ranches to help beautify and preserve the tree’s he enjoyed so much.
David loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Over the years, hiking Palo Duro Canyon and eating at the Big Texan became fun rituals he enjoyed with his family. He had a great love for animals and the outdoors. David took in, raised, and cared for many stray cats and dogs over the years. Each of those animals lived a very good life with him. He had a passion for photography of nature and historical places and events.
