Billy Ray “Cool Cat” Wall of Amarillo passed away on November 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Billy was born on January 23, 1938, to Roy & Josie Wall. Billy married the love of his life, Charlotte Lambright on February 28, 1955, in Amarillo. He was a Union Sheet Metal worker, retired in 2000 after about 28 years. He served on the apprenticeship board for teaching as well. He had a salvage store in Oklahoma near his fishing hole. Billy opened Cool Cat Sno-Cones in the early 90’s and eventually opened Cool Cat 2 and ran both for several years. He was known as the “Frog Man” for his frog hats he always wore. While participating in the Optimus Club, he sold chocolate covered bananas to benefit community needs, After the club dissolved, he continued selling the bananas for local special Olympics and families in need. He sold his famous chocolate covered bananas at the fairgrounds as well for many years along with his sno-cones.
In his free time, he loved fishing and hunting. He loved his 4 bird dogs Missy, Sue, Mike, and Name. He loved watching basketball and football and really enjoyed playing basketball and coaching his kids in their sports in their early years. He was a very loyal supporter of Caprock High School athletics. Billy was a big part of the early days of Kids Inc. with his passion to see all kids be able to play sports no matter their circumstances. Billy loved Jesus and was a faithful Christian.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy & Josie Wall, granddaughter Wendy Marie, a brother Joe Edward, and a sister Kathy Sears.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Charlotte; his sons; Billy Joe and Wife Lynn Wall of Amarillo, Donnie & Sally Wall of Fritch, and daughter Kim Wall of Amarillo. Siblings Haskall Wall, Bobby Wayne Wall, and Lois Sutton. Twelve grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren along with many other family members and friends.
