Bill, as he liked to be called, was born on April 14, 1943 in Nansemond County, which later became Suffolk, Virginia the only child of Clyde Griffin and Roberta Lawrence Griffin. He grew up there in Suffolk where he lived until 1970. He and his mother lived in Orlando Florida for short periods of time, but always returned to Suffolk.
After completing high school Bill joined the Navy. He attended the Navy Electronics School in Great Lakes, Illinois where he graduated top man in his class of 59 enlisted men. He was then assigned to the USS Holland submarine tender stationed in Rota, Spain and Charleston, SC. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked at WCMS radio station in Suffolk.
He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1970 where he met his future wife, Gail Eileen Hess. Bill and Gail were married in March 1977 at Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka where he was a member for many years.
Bill and Gail had two sons, John C. Griffin and Michael B. Griffin. He has lived in Central Florida continuously ever since 1970. He was a charter member of the Amateur Radio club in Suffolk and remained active in Amateur radio after moving to Florida.
His first job in Orlando was with WFTV Channel 9. He later had a number of jobs in the electronics field as Electronics Technician and Engineer. He could repair and design various circuits and electronic devices. He especially enjoyed designing circuits, that could do most anything he wanted them to do. He later became interested in computers and after taking several programming courses at Orlando area colleges became very good at computer programming. His last job before retiring was writing programs for the Navy. He also enjoyed writing programs and building circuits as a hobby. He was intelligent and creative.
Bill took a number of vacations with his family when the boys were young, and with his wife when the boys got older and even took a few cruises later in life. He especially enjoyed his cruise to Alaska and the one through the Panama Canal.
Bill was a good man. He was faithful, honest and trustworthy. He was a Christian and he loved the Lord and his family.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, and survived by his wife Gail, and sons, John and Michael.

A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. 90 Weathersfield Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Dr, Winter Park, FL 32789.
