She was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on March 30, 1950. Keila attended school through college at IAE where her dad was the head pastor and her mom was in charge of home economics and running the school cafeteria.
At 21, she came to visit her sister in the USA to study English and ended up meeting her husband, Al Wyand, whom she married on August 20, 1972. Keila owned and ran a management company for Assisted Living Facilities with her husband, Al, for 22 years. Previously, she worked as a ticket counter agent for PanAm Airlines for several years which made it possible to make frequent visits to her family in Brazil with her husband and children.
She acquired a BS and MS in Psychology from Liberty University through their study at home program before online schooling was an option. When she had the opportunity to become a stay-at home mom, she relished providing a space where her kids and their friends loved to spend time in. Keila seemed to have endless energy, had a quick mind and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She had a passion for her family, helping others, playing the piano and organ, laughing, and creating beautiful spaces.
Keila was survived by her son Erik Wyand; her daughter and daughter’s spouse Tatiana Wyand and Devon Kuntz; her grandchildren Kyle and Lindsey Wyand; her sister and brother-in-law Evanir and Ruben Garcia; her nephew and his wife Kelvin and Tina Garcia; her niece Karla Garcia; her grandnephew and grandniece Jojo and Katie Garcia; and a host of cousins and other family members still in Brazil.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, December 19, at Forest Lake SDA Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations to be made to the Stand Up To Cancer.
