Jamie attended kindergarten through eighth grade at Forrest Lake Elementary Center, graduated from West Orange High School, was a captain of his wrestling team, the “Warriors”, received multiple awards, and nicknamed “Wildman” for his incredible wrestling style. He went on to graduate with his Bachelors in Biology from Florida State University. Jamie excelled in school and always earned honors for his accomplishments. He worked a research assistant for the FSU Bioscience Lab doing stem cell, cancer, and genetic research for several years after he graduated. His research has been published twice. Jamie finished his life as a true Warrior and his family couldn’t be more proud of him.
Jamie had a passion for many things in his life. The things he loved the most were outdoor adventures, spending time in nature, fishing, walks and jeep rides with his beloved dog Jax, and playing with his newest family member, Scooter the kitty cat. He loved to travel and had a love for all kinds of animals. His passion was God’s creatures, to rescue, help, and care for them. Most importantly, he loved his family. He was a life member of the Markham Woods Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Jamie is survived by his Mother, Marilyn and husband Jim Doty; Father, Dale Shirley; Aunt’s Marti, Linda (Richard), Brenda (Ken); Cousins Jeremy, Chase, Amy, and Shelby, and many other family and friends to cherish his memory.
A visitation for Jamie will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Markham Woods Seventh-day Adventist Church followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM located at 505 Markham Woods Road, Longwood, FL 32779.
In lieu of flowers, any memory gifts can be made to the ASPCA or other animal rescue shelter of choice.
His family wishes to thank everyone for the many calls, prayers, visits, love and support that have been expressed and shown by so many. We could not get through this time without you.
