Anna Marie Colvin Bell, age 92, passed away December 16, 2024, in Fern Park, FL. Anna (Ree) was a long-time Missouri resident, and had most recently lived with her daughters in Illinois and Florida.
She was born in West Helena, Arkansas, to Truman Dart and Anna Chloe (Ross) Colvin, on February 5, 1932. Anna graduated from Southwest High School in St. Louis, MO. She married her high school sweetheart John Ross Bell, Sr., on July 25, 1950.
After over 25 years of service, Anna retired as an executive secretary for Budget Rent a Car of St. Louis. She was a member of the former First Christian Church of Florissant, MO, and an active member of the choir and senior ladies’ group preparing meals for those in need. She had a passion for music and had been a member of the Missouri Choral Society. But mostly Anna was devoted and dedicated to her family – from making baby blankets and diaper bags for the grandkids to huge pots of mostaccioli, an assortment of yummy pies, and the proverbial Sunday dinner of roast, ‘taters, carrots, and gravy. Their kitchen table was where friends and family gathered as their home was always open and a safe haven for all.
Anna is survived by her six (6) children: Cynthia (Wayne) Chamberlain, Linda Baumer, John Ross Bell, Jr., Rebecca Williams, Melissa Bell, and Thomas (Mimi) Bell; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Jeanne (Schmidt) Bell and Mimi (Mejia) Bell; son-in-law Victor Faignant; sisters-in-law Linda (Baker) Colvin and Erline (Erving) Colvin; several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years John Ross Bell, Sr., her siblings Patricia (Hughes) Carnathan, Iona Margaret (Hughes) Kurtzeborn, Katherine (Hughes) McClaine, Nancy (Colvin) Herman, John William Colvin, Robert Colvin, an infant brother Oliver Colvin, grandson Christopher Chamberlain, and sons-in-law Richard Baumer and Timothy Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks, if desired, to donate to the scholarship fund of Foundation Christian Academy or the youth camps program of Christ First Church in Florissant, MO, the American Cancer Society, or to the donor’s choice.
