While in the arms of her son, Morline ‘Polly-stein’ Hatcher, of Temple Hills, Maryland, at 4:22am, on October 12, 2023, quietly exchanged her mortal earthbound body for her immortal heavenly body. “Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die.” 1 Cor 15: 36
“Polly” or “Stein” was born to Archie Ross and Georgia-Mae Sheffield in Detroit, Michigan on September 24th, 1926 and celebrated her 98th birthday two and a half weeks ago. She also had a younger brother, now deceased, Rudolph Miller, also from Detroit. May, 1949 Polly married Clifford Lawrence Hatcher of Inkster, Michigan and they had a single child, Lawrence Clifford Hatcher.
March, 1961, Polly and her son “Larry” moved to Washington D.C. where she worked her way up from being a domestic to nursing assistant with the D.C. Health Department from which she retired in the early 90’s. She’d been very active with Peace Baptist Church and was the editor for their newsletter.
