Born in Ft. Worth, TX in 1933, John graduated from Polytechnic High School. After high school, John served in the Navy as a corpsman. He served 4 years active duty based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and 4 years reserve. After returning from active duty, John attended night school working on his Apprentice and Journeyman Plumber studies, while working for the Plumber and Pipefitter’s local union #165. After obtaining his Master Plumber license, John worked as a Superintendent for Southwest Industries, handling the plumbing aspect of plant construction and remodel in Houston, TX, Shreveport, LA and Springfield, MO. In the 1970’s, John left Southwest to start his own plumbing company under the name of Capital Plumbing, operating primarily in central Arkansas until he retired from the plumbing business in 1997. After a brief retirement, John went to work at Walmart, where he served retail customers for another 20 years before retiring in October 2017.
Survived by children Mary Loos (Michael), John Bamber, Helen Eason (Dwayne), Matt Bamber (Tena); grandchildren Chrissie Storer (Nathan), Jennifer Kollias (Dan), Sarah Winright (Marlon), Jessica Roberts (Caleb), John Bamber, Laura Willis (Jason), Wesley Hodges, Jonathon Hodges (Ashley), Jamie Cooper (Brad) and 19 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Nellie Bamber, his wife Mary Ann Bamber (42 years), and his daughter-in-law, Debbie Bamber.
