Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Atkinson and Lela Mae Chavis; husband Leroy Garrett; brother Sonny Atkinson; younger twin sisters Jean and Jane; and her first born son, Steven Lee.
Nadine was born in Monticello, Arkansas and graduated from Ole Main in North Little Rock, Arkansas. During her high school years she was a cheerleader and voted most beautiful. After graduating high school, she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. Shortly thereafter, she married Leroy Garrett and they started their family. Being a mother to their seven children was her primary focus and greatest joy. After raising her family, she enjoyed a long career at Harvest Foods where she eventually retired after 16 years. Once retired, she spent time babysitting her grandchildren and officially became known as “Mawmaw”. She enjoyed attending all of their many sporting events. Nadine also loved planting flowers, decorating for all the different holidays, especially Christmas, and she enjoyed watching Fox News.
Nadine is survived by her seven children Gary (Paula), Beverly (Billy), Vicki (Frank), Gerita (Ronnie), Steve (Candy), Lisa (Randy), and Patrick (Jamie); her 16 grandchildren Kelly, David, Jesse, Taylor, Kelsey, Keylan, Cody, Jackson, Presley, Josh, Nate, Cole, Steven, Melanie, Kristen, and Samantha; her eleven great grandchildren; as well as her sister Sue Maulden (Jerry).
Funeral Services will be held at Pinecrest Memorial on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 12:00 PM. Nadine's nine grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Foxridge Assisted Living at Chenal, as well as the Baptist Hospital CCU unit 2 for their loving care and attention.
