Elouise Chesser Thornley, 96, of Little Rock, AR passed away comfortably and peacefully on Feb. 5, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of being a very family oriented, strong, positive minded, loving and caring person. Her greatest hobby was cooking. She was born and raised in Hot Springs, AR, and lived most of her adult life in Little Rock where she was a member of Second Baptist Church. For many years she worked in the church daycare where she taught numerous pre-school kids. She was predeceased by her husband, Sumner Francis “Frank” Thornley, and her brothers, Lester and Mike (Hot Springs) and Ralph Chesser (Jacksonville, FL). As heaven gained another angel, she has now joined all of her predeceased loved ones once again. Survivors include her daughter Judy (& Allen) Smith of Haskell, AR; grandchildren Melissa (& David) Hoffmans of Little Rock, Bryan (& Brooke) Smith, of Bentonville, Aaron (& Brook) Smith of Rogers, and Chris (& Stacy) Smith of Greenbriar; eleven great-grandchildren; nephew Steve Chesser (& girlfriend, Jenipher), nieces Glenda (& Harry) Wagner, Janis (& Ron) McVay and Myra (& Rick) Lehman all of Florida, and great-niece, Shannon (& Scott) McClard of Hot Springs; her Second Baptist church family and many friends. The family acknowledges and thanks the staff at Amberwood Health and Rehabilitation in Bryant for wonderful comfort and care that they provided while she was a resident. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at Second Baptist Church, 222 East Eighth St., Little Rock, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am at the church. Cemetery services, conducted by Pinecrest, will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery at Ark. Hwy. 5 & Alexander Road. For those who choose to donate a memorial in her honor, the family requests you do so by contributing to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
