Edith Marie Roberts was born April 7th, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas and left this world December 20th, 2024, in the city of her birth. She was a surprise later-in-life pregnancy for her parents Nelson and Marie Kling and for her much older brothers William “Bill” and Herbert “Herb” Kling. This resulted in not only loving parents, but two very loving and protective older brothers who adored their “Sister”, “Sissy”, or “Sis”; family nicknames she kept for the rest of her life.
This strong family bond continued for the remainder of her parents’ lives and for much of the lives of the siblings while they all resided near each other on Kling Road in Mabelvale. The siblings were great friends and their children’s relationships with their cousins were closer to that of siblings.
Her children, her family’s love, and the small, German-Lutheran church her family helped build and establish were some of the pillars of her life that made her proudest. Edith was blessed with a beautiful voice which even earned her a collegiate scholarship. She shared this voice much to the delight of her parents, especially her proud dad, and the Immanuel Lutheran congregation. She also served as the organist at Immanuel for many years.
Edith loved her children Alex and Ashley deeply. She was a wonderfully caring and kind mother who was extremely proud of her children and their accomplishments while being too humble about her major role in those.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. It gives her surviving family peace and comfort knowing that Sister has been reunited with them in heaven. She is survived by her children Alex Roberts and Ashley Roberts King as well as her brother Herb’s wife Barbara. She is also survived by the many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews whom she loved. Her smile and happiness will also forever remain in the hearts of her many friends including her great friends Becky Harrington and Paula Thompson. Additionally, since you couldn’t have a very long conversation with her over the last several years without her mentioning how much she loved her little dog Oliver, she would want him included here.
Funeral services will be Thursday December 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church (15224 Alexander Rd, Alexander AR 72002) with a visitation starting one hour prior at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Funeral Home(7401 AR-5, Alexander, AR 72002).
