Donald James McMullan, age 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born on November 29, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Jimmy and Lois McMullan. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Flora McMullan; daughters, Teri Jones and Sheila Bailey; grandson, Nicholas Rhodes; and granddaughter, Melody Rhodes.
Don was a devoted family man known for his easy-going nature and quiet strength. His dedication extended beyond his loved ones to his unwavering support for the Arkansas Razorbacks, demonstrating true loyalty in a world of fair-weather fans.
Don was a vibrant and cherished presence in the lives of those who knew him. A devoted fan of Oaklawn Park, he found joy in the excitement of horse racing and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His weekends were often filled with the thrill of poker games and lively board game nights with family, where his skill at poker and the warm company of Janet, Eric, Nicholas, Ashley, and Obed were highlights. His family will deeply miss the cherished moments spent together, especially the playful debates over the thermostat. Don shared a deep, unbreakable bond with his daughter, Janet, over their shared love for country music, a connection that defined many of their cherished moments. His Christmases were legendary, with Don delighting his family with his homemade fudge, divinity, pralines, and tiger butter, making every holiday season truly special. Professionally, Don was a respected statistician specializing in sports stats, a passion that complemented his own impressive career as a minor league baseball player.
Donald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Eric Rhodes; granddaughters, Ashley Kumpe (Billy) and Jennifer Hooten (Jeffery); grandsons, Michael Brower, Christopher Jones (Mary), and Clayton Jones (Emily); as well as great grandchildren, Daniel Murillo, Adrian Murillo, Emily Murillo, Isabella Murillo, Madelyn Murillo, Payton Jones, Logan Jones, Ryan Jones, James Jones, Kaitlyn Jones, Kendall Jones, Clayton Jones Jr., Shelby Jones, Landon Hooten, Brantley Hooten, Bronsyn Hooten, Nathan Brower, and Eva Brower.
A graveside service for Donald will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Pinecrest Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 7401 HIGHWAY 5 N, ALEXANDER, Arkansas 72002.
