Betty Lou Shockley Goin, 92, of Bryant, died on June 7th, 2019 at Saline Memorial Hospice House. She was born on April 2nd, 1927 to parents Harry Lee and Willie Mae Shockley in Houston, Texas. Betty met her husband, Walter, while he was in the Marines. They dated for ten days and were married July 23rd, 1945. They had been married for 57 years and loved each other very much. Together they had a son and daughter in Houston, Texas before moving to Alexander, Arkansas for Walter’s job. Betty worked in the office at Jacuzzi for 20 years and also bowled with the Jacuzzi league. Betty was a longtime member of United Methodist Church in Mabelvale. She served on several committees including the Meals on Wheels program and the alter flower committee. With the help of her talented grandson, Brian Jeffery Goin, who arranged the flowers each week, she eventually became the chairman of the alter committee. Betty had many talents and loved to cross stitch, cook, bake, and tend to her home, family, flower and vegetable gardens. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband: Walter H. Goin, Jr., and her loving, devoted grandson: Brian Jeffery Goin, who are all celebrating her arrival in Heaven. Those left to cherish her memory are her one son: Walter (Sherry) Goin III of Highland Village, Texas; one daughter: Carolyn Goin of Bryant, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Russell and Patricia Goin of Frisco, Texas, and Robert and Gracie Goin of Lewisville, Texas; four great-grandchildren: Grant, Luke, Natalie and Kyler Goin; three step-brothers: Joseph “Sonny” Shockley of Montgomery, Texas, Jimmy (Christine) Shockley of Sugarland, Texas, and Timmy Shockley of Austin, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special friend: Robin Barron, and longtime family nurse and “second daughter”: Sarajane Pierce.
