It's often said that someone is born with a "silver spoon". With Jackie, you could say she was born with a pencil. An artist all her life, she began by sketching and writing for radio, television, advertising agencies and newspapers, even designing album covers for Columbia Records.
In the commercial world of business, Jackie was involved in all aspects of managing shopping centres. She supervised malls across Canada for Hudson's Bay Company, including Cloverdale Mall in Toronto and Rutherford Village Mall in Nanaimo, BC. She worked her way up to senior management before retiring and devoting her boundless energy full time to her creative abilities.
In 1985 her art, oil paintings and drawings brought her work to the forefront and she sold her creations to people from around the world. She opened her own arts and crafts shop and encompassed many art forms from doll making and ceramics to stoneware forms and vessels. Pottery totally captured her imagination. You could say that the pencil was replaced by a ball of clay.
Jackie was born in Timmins, Ontario and is predeceased by her husband Milyn (d. 2012). She is survived by her daughter Deborah, her son David (Adriana), grandsons Wesley (Lindsay) and Jeffrey (Joycelin) and great grandson, Finn as well as her sisters and several nieces and nephews. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to special friend Mary Wolbers for being there when we needed her most and to Bevan Village Lodge for taking good care of Jackie in her final years. As per Jackie's request, there will be no service and cremation has taken place.
