June Lorraine (Bailey) McCreary

Her happy place was the cabin at Lindell Beach, spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed travelling, square dancing, choral singing, and spoiling her children, grandchildren and many other family members. She loved her career as a teacher, primarily in kindergarten, in the Chilliwack and Surrey school districts. Many close friends were made through her involvement in Carmen United Church in Sardis and the United Churches of Langley. After retirement she volunteered as a docent at the Langley Centennial Museum for many years. As she slowed down in her later years she kept in touch with family and friends through regular lunch dates, social media, and phone. Her days were full and woe to anyone who missed their phone check in time!

Living her whole life in the Lower Mainland she was the eldest daughter of Nora and Samuel Colby. Predeceased by her first husband Frederick (Bud) Bailey and her second husband Stanley McCreary, her two grandchildren Colin and Robyn Fyles, her brothers Irwin and Larry Colby, and brother-in-law Mel Lawlor. She is survived by her sisters Sharon Lawlor and Lynne (Wayne) Cowley, her sisters-in-law Marianne Colby and Barjean Colby, her children Judy (Robert) Fyles, Brent (Lorri) Bailey, Michael Bailey (Sue), and Leslie (Peter) Jastrau and her beloved grandchildren Elizabeth, Melissa, Joel, Katherine and Brianne.

Although she left us suddenly and will be sorely missed by her friends and large extended family, she lived her life fully and will be fondly remembered by everyone whose life she touched.

A memorial service will be held at United Churches of Langley in Murrayville (21562 Old Yale Rd.) on Saturday February 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow.
