Mr. Ousley was my Shorthand teacher at South High School. He was such a kind man, and an excellent teacher. I have no doubt he is celebrating his new life in Heaven! My deepest sympathy and prayers are extended to his wife and family. May God grant each of you strength and peace in the days and months ahead.


Mr Ousley was my teacher at South-Young High School. He was patient a kind to all students. I saw him a few years ago at the Tennessee theater and he was so tickled that I recognized him. He certainly lived his life well.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Mr. Ousley. He was my teacher at South High School. Always a very patient and nice man. God bless his family and friends during this time. My sincere condolences.

I’m a better person today for having known RT Ousley. I first met RT in 1986 thru my grandfather, Jack Richesin (he & RT were long-time farming buddies). I have many fond memories deer hunting with RT in Union County on his family farm & property. It was no surprise to see RT riding through the pasture on his tractor when he was tired of hunting. To this day I keep an old hunting pass with RT’s signature in my hunting pack. No matter where my hunting takes me, RT is still with me!

I remember R T taking a few of us girls to Middlesboro KY  to watch Maryville High School football championship game . He was so sweet , giggled and laughed  along with us the entire trip. So much fun Both R T and Clara were the most supportive parents to Ted and Karen. A truly wonderful family that has done so many great things for Maryville.

Clara, Ted, Karen and all family members.  Please accept our heart-felt condolences.  R.T. was a very accomplished individual.  Have not seen him and/or any of your family for many years.  Certainly have wonderful memories of times with my family  - father, Roy Glenn Ousley and mother, Dottie Davis Ousley when we visited R. T. 's parents - Bate and Bonnie Ousley at their home in Sharps Chapel, TN.
As I recall, we were told that R. T. would ride on the back of my father's horse as they traveled to school where my Father was a teacher and R. T. was a student in Sharps Chapel, TN.
R.T.'s Father, Bate Ousley and my Grandfather, Dr. Jacob Milus Ousley were first cousins.

I celebrate the blessing Blount County has had in having R T Ousley as part of its community. R T served his neighbors in food production, as an educator, and in living the exemplary Christian life. My family worked, served, and worship with R T since the 1940s. My family always approved of my  friendship  with Karen and Ted saying, they are R T's children and that is quality people.  If I speak  of the outdoors, agriculture, honest, integrity, scouting, what it is to be a man, a gentleman and a follower of Jesus Christ; R.T. was a part of who I grew up to become and who I and my family are today. Ted tells me R.T.s last word was, "Gloryland". Well done good and faithful servant.

Mr. Ousley was a good man.  We rented from him for over 20 years growing up. We enjoyed living on the farm, growing our own garden, playing in the creek.  He was a big part of of my childhood and the Arwood family will never forget him.  My prayers are with the family. 

Mr. Ousley (as I always knew him) was my seventh grade math teacher at South Jr. High School in Knoxville.  If I recall correctly he and Clara were not yet married at that time.  He was one of my favorite teachers and was always so kind.  Later in life I married and moved to Maryville and much to my surprise met Mr. Ousley when my husband was active in the Kiwanis Club.  Mr. Ousley never failed to remember me any time I would meet him.  I know he will be missed by many people whose life he touched like he did this shy 7th grader back then.  My deepest sympathy goes out to Clara and Mr. Ousley's family.  Doris Holbert

So sorry to hear this. Praying for you all during this time of grief. He had a long life and this is only temporary. We have the joy of knowing he is rejoicing in Heaven and we will see him again.
